Our New Direction

Today’s environmental challenges require every one of us doing what we can to lessen our impact’that means nobody should be left out of the solutions. No matter where you come from or how much money you make, you should have equal access to services and products that help you conserve both environmental resources and money.

Based on the emerging links between health promotion, quality of life, and the environment, EcoAction Teams has developed the following new mission statement:

To be the source of practical, culturally relevant and economically-viable solutions that help Canadians improve their well-being, quality of life, and lessen their impact on the environment.

New Website Launch: Fall 2010

As the environmental action arm of Earth Day Canada, we aim to foster an online community that encourages contributions and resource-sharing from individual users, groups and partner organizations; engages community-based groups and health and social service providers as delivery partners; and promotes an exchange of ideas and information in a positive, meaningful manner.

• Development of tools and resources member communities can share with their networks
• Interactive web tools for users to submit tips, articles and resources while participating in discussions and commenting/rating our content
• An environmental terms glossary to take the guess-work out of frequently used abbreviations and jargon
• A tips database to find information on topics like budget travel, health and beauty products, energy conservation, natural cleaning solutions, etc.
• A groups database to find a local group you can connect with
• Action-oriented green activity guides for individuals, groups and families
• Articles and interviews that explore issues in-depth
• Resource/materials in French and other languages to follow
