Kick start the year by sharing your eco-friendly actions and win!

Have you contributed to a healthier environment at home, in the workplace or in the community? Enter the EcoAction Teams 2009 Storytelling Contest and tell us what you did.

Panasonic camcorders will be awarded to the first place winners in the “team” category and digital cameras will be awarded to the first and second place winners in the “individual household” category. Winners will be chosen from the following regions:

• Western and Northern Canada
• Ontario
• Quebec and Eastern Canada

Your Story

We want to know how the EcoAction Teams program has helped your household, your community group, or your team take positive action to lessen your impact on the environment. Maybe you taught your kids to compost (or they showed you). Maybe you are going to farmer’s markets more than supermarkets, or maybe you even traded in your car for a bike.

Your story might be inspirational, complex, or humorous but should also describe your efforts to:

• conserve energy
• reduce waste
• shop and garden more sustainably
• save water and
• choose alternative modes of transportation.

Keep in mind, no action is too small to have an impact.

Submissions should be 300-500 words.

Eligibility

• Every applicant must be a registered participant of the EcoAction Teams program. You can sign up for a free membership at www.ecoactionteams.ca
• Applicants must be residents of Canada.
• Employees of Earth Day Canada and Panasonic Canada cannot participate in the contest.
• You must indicate on your application form (and in your story) whether you are writing about your team or your individual household.

Application process

EcoAction Teams program participants can apply by email, or by mail. Please refer to the eligibility criteria prior to submitting your application to ensure you are eligible to win. Your application must be received by March 22, 2009.

Email: Download the application form, fill out the contact info and copy/paste your story directly into the document. Save the document as your name and send it to us electronically, with any photographs, to: ecoactionteams@earthday.ca

Judging

Earth Day Canada staff will review all submissions and select the finalists and winners. Winners will be announced on Earth Day, April 22, 2009. We will publish the winning stories and photographs on www.ecoactionteams.ca and www.earthday.ca
