Energy Tips - Laundry
  • Natural Whitening
  • Want an easy, natural way to whiten your loads? Hanging your laundry in sunlight is the most economical whitener available. Hanging clothes to dry will help you prevent wrinkling. Less wrinkles means less time using your iron which consumes a lot of energy.
  • Cold Water Detergents
  • Liquid detergents and cold water formulas are best for strictly cold water washing. Regular powder detergents are susceptible to humidity and clumping.
  • Wash Full Loads
  • Wash full loads as much as possible and items that are actually dirty. If you are washing less than a full load, use the appropriate load settings on your washing machine. If you only have a couple of items, it’s fast and easy to wash by hand.
  • Pre-soak Cycle
  • If your clothes are really dirty, don’t wash them twice; use the pre-soak cycle on your washing machine. Some heavily soiled items such as diapers should continue to be washed in hot water.
