Local recycling company Westmorland-Albert Solid Waste Corporation offers a one-of-a-kind recycling program in Moncton for old sneakers and sports shoes. There are 3 collection bins in the city located at:

CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud Gym on the Université de Moncton campus
The Running Room (300 Main St.)

Westmorland-Albert estimates that they divert as many as 50,000 sneakers a year and that the shoes are recycled to produce artificial sports surfaces such as tennis courts, soccer turf and even sports equipment like Frisbees or basketballs.
