The City of Airdrie, together with their partners Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA), One Simple Act and Earth Day Canada, are happy to congratulate the City of Camrose, Town of Sundre and Village of Breton for winning in their respective categories in the Community EcoAction Challenge.
The Challenge encouraged residents of Alberta to make simple changes to their daily lives in order to make a big and positive impact on the environment. Winning municipalities were named in three size-related categories (small, mid-sized and large sized municipalities) based on the number of participants signed up per capita. Fourteen communities took part in the challenge which was initiated by the City of Airdrie.
“Although we, of course, would have liked to see Airdrie win this Challenge, we are proud of all the winning communities for their success. We all win in challenges like this that get residents thinking about ways they can lessen their impact on the environment and make small changes that make a big difference,” says Linda Bruce, Mayor of Airdrie.
Thank you to all the individuals and municipalities who participated in the challenge. Don’t stop here though, continue to live responsibly and challenge yourself to reduce your environmental impact. Use the EcoAction Calculator to see how much money, energy and water you can save!
